The path to the discovery of my voice as an artist began with the influence of artists/mentors at the Pasco Arts Council in Holiday, Florida. Studies in the works of great artists:Van Gogh, Matisse, the Impressionists, (Gladys O and Trish D from the Arts Council)are among my favorites. Have exhibited at several venues in the Tampa Bay area and participate in art shows and gallery exhibitions.

Artist's Statement
"The heavens declare the wonders of God, and the skies declare what He has done...In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth...Created humans to be like Himself...looked at what He had done. All of it was very good!" (Quotations from books of Psalms/Genesis). You've probably seen a child react to seeing things for the first time. How many times did you hear them say something like "Wow, look at that"? As we move along life's journey, that sense of "Wow" seems to fade. But, with God's help, we can get the "Wow" back. If you take some time to read through the Bible, starting in the books of Genesis, Psalms, the Gospel according to John and the book of Romans, I think you'll be surprised when you have that "aha" moment.

A letter from Vincent Van Gogh
Christ alone of all the philosophers, magicians, etc., took as his principal theme the certainty of eternal life, the endlessness of time, the nothingness of death, the need for and the justification of calmness and devotion. He lived a serene life, and was the greatest artist of all, disdaining marble, clay or color, working with living flesh.

He didn’t write books either: indeed he would be disgusted with the literature of Christianity as a whole, for there very few literary productions that can stand beside the Gospel of St. Luke or the Epistles of St. Paul. Christ, this great artist, though he disdained books written about ideas (sensations) never, on the other hand, disdained the spoken word – especially in the form of parables. (The sower, the harvest, the fig-tree, etc.)

Such considerations take us a long way, a very long way. They raise us even above art. They enable one to catch a glimpse of the art of creating life, the art of living immortality and they’re not irrelevant to painting.

(From letter to Emile Bernard written from Arles, France June 1888)
